There's a name for it.. HYPERHIDROSIS
Everyone sweats, but for some people its way beyond what an antiperspirants can handle. If your excessive sweating has you changing your clothes at work, dreading a handshake or choosing clothes because they won't show sweat stains, it could be a medical condition called hyperhidrosis.
WHAT'S HYPERHIDROSIS?
Hyperhidrosis is a disorder that makes you sweat more than you need to. In primary hyperhidrosis, cause is unknown and can affect specific areas, such as the armpits, hands, feet and/or face. Other factors such as diabetes, menopause, nerve damage and some medication can also cause excessive sweating, called secondary hyperhidrosis. Your doctor will need to do a full exam to arrive at a diagnosis.
BOTOX Injections for Hyperhidrosis
This is one of the biggest advances in the treatment of Hyperhidrosis in years.
How does it work?
With a simple treatment of Botox® sweating in that area can stop. When BOTOX® is placed near the sweat
glands the signals to sweat is stopped. It can take a few days or more to work but the results are dramatic. On average, there is over 80% decrease of sweat production in that area that lasts on average 7 months. Remarkably, up to a third of patients can go 1 year before they return for more. Therefore, you are treated once or maximally twice per year and don't have to worry about constantly treating the area.
Treatment is often covered by extended health benefits..
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that is highly treatable. In fact, getting help is easy. Check your health coverage - you may already be covered for treatment. Many employers offer extended health benefits through their insurance plans, which leaves you only to cover the injection free.
